Chain footprints
Where the largest brands have stores, and where they do not
A footprint, not a ranking. For each of the 0 largest brands by listed stores, the count by state and metro, the residents and households of each area per listed store, and the metros with no store yet. The figures come from Overture Maps' places captures and the Census, and they say nothing about how well any store does.

How to read it
Residents per listed store is a supply figure
A metro with 60,000 residents per store has fewer stores for its population than one with 20,000. That can mean room for another store, or a brand that does not suit the place. The count is of doors listed in the capture, so a kiosk and a superstore weigh the same, and a brand listed under two spellings appears twice. The methodology page describes the captures.
